The Alsmans

Caitlin is already a month old! We can't believe how fast the time is going. She continues to be more alert and looks around alot more! She has started to make more smiling faces. She continues to enjoy her pacifier and continues to do well with the bottle. She even let Grandmo give her a bottle (up until Sunday only daddy had given her a bottle). We try to only give her a bottle once every other day so we don't confuse her!

Caitlin and mommy have gone on two outings on their own. We went to Target last week and then to Baby Gap this week! She slept the whole time on both outings. We can't wait until the weather gets nicer so we can go outside more often!

Caitlin loves her new Ruffles and Ribbons outfit from her Aunties!!!

Caitlin was 4 weeks old on Monday! She has started tummy time and likes it! She likes it better when she is propped up on the Boppy. She also had her first real bath on Sunday. She fussed at first but then she just sat there. She didn't cry and just hung out in the tub. She really likes it when we pour water on her head. Hopefully she will still like that at her Baptism! Grandmo and Grandpa were over and helped with her bath!!!

Caitlin is now 3 weeks old! She is more alert every day! She has had a busy last week! Katy and Henry Dubina were in town this last weekend. Caitlin had her first dinner out with them and mommy and daddy last Saturday (see the picture of Caitlin and mommy). She slept the whole time! She also watched the inauguration with Mommy on Tuesday wearing her Obama onesie (thanks, Katy)! Her umbilical cord notch FINALLY came off today (on daddy's birthday!). I was beginning to think it was never coming off.

She continues to enjoy her swing and sleeps for 3 hours at a time at night! She can now start tummy time since her cord came off! She is pretty strong so we will continue to work on her holding up her head!!

Caitlin has had a few firsts this week! She tried the Baby Bjorn for the first time. She had mixed reactions to it. She liked it once and cried the other time. I think she needs to be a little bigger before she will like it. She also had her first bottle of mommy's milk this week. It was a little messy but she took about 2 oz. She also tried the pacifier for the first time. She LOVES it! She has been sucking on her hand non-stop since she was born so we figured she would like it. The bottle and the pacifier haven't interfered with breastfeeding, so that is good. Mommy was VERY nervous about that. We are going to try the bottle again tomorrow. We'll see how it goes.

Wow, time is flying by! Caitlin is now 2 weeks old. She went to the doctor today for her 2 week appointment. She is back to her birth weight, which made the doctor (and mommy and daddy) happy! She has been a great eater with a few issues here and there. She continues to entertain us with her cute faces and funny noises. We especially like it when we change her diaper and she decides to pee or poop after we take her diaper off. This has just started and has happened a few times. I guess we need to watch out for this from now on. For now, we just think it is hysterical! Grant goes back to work on Thursday! We are looking forward to this weekend when Katy Dubina is coming to meet Caitlin!

Caitlin met her Aunties, Uncle and Cousins from Evansville this past weekend. We spent most of the day Saturday at Aunt Lynette's and Uncle Bill's house in Darien. Caitlin went to P. F. Chang's for her first outing to a restaurant. We went for lunch and she slept the whole time. She loved meeting her family and can't wait to get bigger so she can play with her cousins. We took a "girls" picture but Laney didn't want to get in it.

Caitlin was officially one week old on Monday!!! She is doing great and keeps us very busy. She went back to the doctor yesterday and now weighs 7 lbs. 8 oz. She is also growing, measuring 21 inches!!! She had to get a shot which made Mommy sad. Other than that, the doctor said she looks great! She will go back next week for her 2 week appointment.

Grant is off until the 15th and has been a HUGE help! I don't know how it will go once he goes back to work. Caitlin and I will figure it out though.

Caitlin had an appointment with her pediatrician today. It was her first trip out since coming home on Wednesday. She did a great job. She slept in the car and didn't cry too much. The doctor is monitoring her weight because she lost about 8% of her body weight after delivery. She is down 10% now (6 lbs. 15 oz.), but the doctor isn't too concerned. We go back on Tuesday, the 6th. She is eating consistently every 2-4 hours so her weight should be up by next week!!

Our first night home wasn't too bad. Grant and I have a great system going (I feed her, he calms her down if she doesn't go back to sleep after the feeding). Last night, she wasn't eating as well. But, she is back on track now that the yummy milk has come in!!!

Thanks for all the well wishes we have received so far! Caitlin is lucky to have so many people that care about her!

Caitlin Rose Alsman was born on Monday, December 29 at 11:16 p.m. She weighed 7 lbs. 11 oz. and was 20 1/2 inches long! She is doing great! We came home from the hospital on New Year's Eve around 2 p.m. We will post some pictures soon.
