The Alsmans

Caitlin is now 11 weeks old. She has had a big week (and it's only Wednesday). We moved her bassinet into her room on Monday and she continued to sleep 8 hours. It was hard for mommy and daddy to let her move out of their room. We are going to try the crib next week! She actually slept 8 hours 15 minutes last night (yes, every minute counts to mommy!!). She really enjoys her play gym now. She will lay under it and look at the animals and sometimes she hits them with her hands!!! She seems to really be growing too. Her cheeks seem to get chubbier by the day (they are so cute!!).

We had fun on St. Patrick's Day. It was 70 degrees in Chicago so we went downtown for the day. We met daddy for lunch, went shopping and went for a walk to see the green Chicago River! Caitlin slept through most of it. Then we went out for dinner and Caitlin wore her cute St. Patty's Day dress! We had some delicious irish food at Mrs. Murphy and Sons! It was so special spending the day as a family!!!

Caitlin says "thank you" to all the family and friends that gave her all her ADORABLE St. Patty's day apparel! She managed to wear it all over the last week!

Caitlin had another busy weekend! We cheered on the Illini over at Justin and Sarah's on Saturday. Caitlin was introduced to their dog, Joey. She didn't seem to mind him at all. He would run to her side whenever she made a noise, it was really cute! She also enjoyed another "first" this weekend. Her First Southside Irish Parade!!!! We couldn't believe how she could sleep through all the noise! We were very impressed. The weather was beautiful and when she was awake, she enjoyed taking it all in!!!! We look forward to many more parades in the years to come! Maybe some day she will be an irish dancer in the parade!!!

It has been another busy week for Caitlin. She had 2 playdates this week. On Tuesday, we visited Cindy and Baby Sophia. They are already thinking alike and were both wearing purple! Then on Thursday, we had fun with Kellie and little Bobby! He didn't know what to think of this little thing that moved and cried. It is so fun to have friends with kids around the same age!

Caitlin continues to grow right before our eyes. We just realized this week how long her eyelashes are. We never noticed them before so they must be growing. They are so pretty!!! She loves to laugh, smile and "talk." She also LOVES to sleep. At night, she eats at 9 p.m. goes to sleep and gets up again at 5 a.m. I am not a fan of waking up at 5 but I LOVE 7 hours of sleep!!!! She is looking forward to her first St. Patrick's Day and has already started wearing her green so she can wear all her St. Patty's Day outfits before next Tuesday!!!

Caitlin has been a little social butterfly these days! She spent some time with mommy's Aunts and Uncles last weekend at Grandma and Grandpa's house. She also went out to dinner with them. She travels very well right now so we are taking advantage of it! Auntie Julie and Olivia decided to stay in Chicago a little longer so Caitlin and Olivia got to play together again!! They have fun playing dress up in all the clothes Grandmo buys for them!

Caitlin went to the doctor last week for her 2 month check-up ( a week late)! She is doing great! She weighs 10 lbs. 2 oz. (50th percentile) and is 23 inches long (75th percentile). The doctor said she is very strong. She also said it was o.k. to let Caitlin sleep as long as she wants at night. She has been going 7 to 7 1/2 hours between feedings at night. So that means mommy gets about 6 hours of sleep in a row!!!!! We didn't like that she had to get some shots but she did pretty well. She didn't have a fever or anything afterward. She was just pretty fussy and slept a lot the next day! She goes back to the doctor in April for her 4 month check-up!!

Caitlin is now 2 months old (and she already wants to drink, ha ha)!! She is such a delight. She is so curious now and loves to look all around the room. She is also mesmerized by the sound and lights from the TV. She is starting to coo and make fun noises. She loves when we talk back to her. She just gives us this look like "wow, they just said what I said." She continues to like tummy time and rolls over from time to time. She is a great sleeper and is now taking naps in her bassinet! She goes to the doctor today for her 2 month check-up. We can't wait to find out how much she weighs and how long she is!!!

Our friends, Cindy and Bill, had a baby girl, Sophia Lynn, on Feb. 16th! Caitlin and Sophia are exactly 7 weeks apart. We got to meet Sophia on Feb. 20th. She is so tiny and adorable. We look forward to them being best friends and having lots of fun together!
